The International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery recently conducted its third annual global survey of aesthetic/cosmetic surgery procedures with the participation of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the Brazilian Society for Plastic Surgery to provide a global perspective on trends.
According to the results, liposuction is the most commonly performed cosmetic procedure in the world, accounting for 19.9% of all cosmetic surgeries. Breast augmentation is not far behind in 18.9% of procedures. Taking into account the list, blepharoplasty occurred at 11%, abdominoplasty at 8.7% and rhinoplasty at 7.5%.
It is interesting to compare these results with the results of the United States Specific Plastic Surgery Survey, which shows (according to the latest ASPS report) that breast augmentation is by far the most popular cosmetic surgery (307,000 performed in 2011 alone). Liposuction is currently ranked third in the United States; Rhinoplasty (fifth on the ISAPS list) comes in second here.

On a case by case basis, doctors will use an open or closed cutting technique. If the patient requires a more complete rhinoplasty, an open rhinoplasty may be needed. In a doctor’s experience as a cosmetic plastic surgeon treating patients in Atlanta, Buckhead, Stockbridge, GA and other areas, one of the most popular procedures among African American women is breast reduction surgery. Breasts that are too large may have a tendency to sag and droop, as well as physical limitations and pain.
Breast reduction surgery involves making discrete incisions in the patient’s breasts, through which the surgeon removes excess breast tissue and skin. The goal of surgery is to create firmer, more proportionate breasts. An experienced plastic surgeon will try to ensure limited and discreet treatment.
Abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, is a commonly requested plastic surgery procedure in African American patients. Extra fat deposits can accumulate around the waist due to various factors such as pregnancy, aging, genetics or weight fluctuations. Tummy tuck surgery can surgically remove loose skin and excess fat while tightening the weak underlying muscles in the abdomen. The patient’s abdomen can become strong and flat by this procedure.
Butt enlargement is one of the upcoming procedures for women. This procedure may involve the use of implants or fat grafts to create a more curved shape in the buttocks. In some cases, the procedure may be combined with liposuction, tummy tuck or other surgery for a more harmonious result.
