The International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery recently conducted its third annual global survey of aesthetic/cosmetic surgery procedures with the participation of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the Brazilian Society for Plastic Surgery to provide a global perspective on trends.
According to the results, liposuction is the most commonly performed cosmetic procedure in the world, accounting for 19.9% of all cosmetic surgeries. Breast augmentation is not far behind in 18.9% of procedures. Taking into account the list, blepharoplasty occurred at 11%, abdominoplasty at 8.7% and rhinoplasty at 7.5%.
It is interesting to compare these results with the results of the United States Specific Plastic Surgery Survey, which shows (according to the latest ASPS report) that breast augmentation is by far the most popular cosmetic surgery (307,000 performed in 2011 alone).
